My oldest great grandson, Clayton, proved to be a great subject for this portrait taken from a candid photograph. It was a challenge because a white tablecloth just under his face was reflecting light upward onto his face. Also, the big smile pulled his nose up on the left (his right). It is 10"x12" using colored pencils on illustration board.
Hi Aunt Sam! That was such a nice surprise to see your comment on my post. That story you wrote about Sr. St. Hubert goes to show you're not only a talented artist, but you're also a good writer. The way you wrote about that lovely memory makes it that much sweeter.

aquaphotocoeur, thank you for the wonderful compliments. I'm so pleased that you like my work. Yes, colored pencil work is very tedious and time comsuming but I like the results. And, I have learned some tricks and shortcuts to speed up the tedious process.

ReplyDeleteHelga, thank you for checking out my blog and for your lovely comment on this portrait of Clayton. Yes, he is handsome. Maybe he takes after his great grandmother. Actually, he takes after his daddy and granddaddy, my son.
